When the downtown traffic light turned red
People stopped to wait for a float painted white
That carried veterans in uniforms notably blue
Just as the soldiers past the sky turned a dark blue
And the sun faded fast that left a stripe blazed in red
Then rose the stars that twinkled in a crystal white
As the night moved on sparklers shined white
Fireworks lit up the sky in orange, yellow and blue
Only to end the show in different shades of red
This is America in red, white and blue
