There was a teen boy named Dan
Who ran laps around the block
His mission was to lose weight
Each night before eight o’ clock
Yet poor Dan became discouraged
By verbiage from the school’s coach
He said Dan would never play
When the football days approached
For the local football team
Led a dream of loyalty
But Dan’s torch carried a will
With passion fulfilled to be
Fifty pounds less, months later
Now braver young Dan tried out
Football left him qualified
He was witnessed by a scout
