A kingdom near the ocean
Built by children at play
A fortress made of sand
Combined with water to make clay
There are many of these nations
On each and every beach
Only to stay put for a moment
Until it washes out to sea
I remember as a child myself
Making a sand castle by the shore
My construction was complete
But then it began to pour
So everytime I’m in a gift shop
And see the replica of a sand castle in color
I begin to dream of its majestic world
And how I would love to build another
But now I must leave those memories behind
And know that my love of sand castles will never die
